Disney’s new movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, scheduled for release on 09-26-08 which is only a mere 10 days from our Mexican Patriotic Celebrations is certainly scheduled to piss off a lot of Mexican people and deteriorate our cultural image into generic "Latino" mediocrity.

This obscene trash that has spawned from the cultural ignorance of Disney for commercial profit has an excessive taint of mediocre "Latino" profiling which is obviously intended to exploit for the purposes of capitalizing on what typical naive Americans think is an exotic Latino identity. Once again I feel the need to remind my more studied readers to revert back to the lessons learned in Edward W. Said’s Orientalism.

Now where to begin in pointing out the dreadful stupidity of this trailer since we haven’t seen the whole movie yet? The narrator who calls himself "Papi," which is a term better suited to Puerto Rican and Cuban dialect NOT Mexican, claims to be from a line of Aztec warriors and at this moment we are shown a brief image of the Inca ruins in the "Old Mountain" of Machu Picchu. It is embarrassing to say that most grade-schoolers will realize the Incas and the Aztecs (Mexicas) are TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT CIVILIZATIONS 2,870 MILES APART. Don’t get me wrong I am not trying to bash the Incas I am only pointing out Disney's cultural ignorance. As if the fake accents and the "Papi" gimmick wasn’t a bad enough taint of Latino culture into our Mexican identity they show the dogs playing yet another typically Latino bongo drum (which is African-Latino) to a stereotypical Latino beat which made me wonder if they would go as far as shaking some maracas around dancing Salsa going "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".

But enough of that. Fortunately I found an article that does a pretty good job at destroying this movie better than I could: The Blood of Chihuahuas Will Be on Disney's Hands.

If Disney had really wanted to emulate our Mexican culture and identity rather than run away with a distorted and mediocre Latinized imagery then they would have looked something like this:
