Bibliography

Here is a list of cool movies as well as some documentaries. I know that movies are seen as a comodity and purely for entertainment but they are also very helpfull tools in teaching and building character. It is in watching movies that as kids we learn to identify with the good guy and hate the bad guy. Movies can teach and show us what mere words can't.

I will be providing links to those documentaries that are hosted by Google Video. Just click on the name an it will take you directly to the video.

WARNING! We get the privelege to watch these movies for free only because they are for educational purposes ONLY, that means that you cannot copy or distribute them in any way or you will be forcing Google to take them down and spoil it for the rest of us. So don't be a pety criminal and respect these films.

                                                       Documentaries:

Los Ultimos Zapatistas. (This is film documetary by Francesco Taboada Tabone & Sarah Perring. You can visit their official website here.)

Bowling for Columbine (2002). (This is a film by Michael Moore, and it deals with the subject of gun control in the U.S. I know the title makes you think it’s about bowling and the name Columbine makes one think "What does that have to do with anything?" but trust me this is a documentary worth seeing. Especially after I’ve seen it being referenced in the popular media so many times.)

Mahatma: Life of Gandhi 1869-1948. (This documentary deals extensively with the life and philosophy of Mahatmas Gandhi. This video is a bit more than 5 hours long so don’t expect to sit through it in one go unless you have the entire afternoon and night and even so you might want to get out a pen and paper to jot down some notes. This is a documentary that is worth seeing because it deals with his entire struggle for India’s freedom from English colonial rule, and served as my inspiration to carry on my own project for Mexico’s struggle.)

Edward Said's Lecture: The Myth of "The Clash of Civilizations." (Here we see Edward W. Said giving a lecture to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In this lecture he talks about an essay, latter turned into a book, by Samuel P. Huntington entitled "The Clash of Civilization." This lecture is 52 minutes long which is pretty much the standard lecture time at any expensive university so enjoy. And long live the struggle for free education.)
